Mumbai, June 13, 2026: SOBO Mumbai Falcons created history by winning the inaugural Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai Women’s League title after defeating Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs by 25 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
After posting 124/6 in 20 overs, the Falcons defended the total with a disciplined bowling effort. The Tigers started positively but lost captain Humairaa Kaazi (23) at 37. Janhvi Kate then turned the game in Falcons’ favour by dismissing tournament top-scorer Sanika Chalke (18) and Fatima Jaffer in quick succession. She later removed Sejal Raut (23) to finish with impressive figures of 3/21.
The Tigers struggled to build partnerships and were bowled out for 99 in 18.5 overs. Young spinner Swara Jadhav continued her excellent tournament with 2/14, while Sayali Satghare, Nirmiti Rane and Akshaya Shinde picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, Falcons recovered from early setbacks to score 124/6. Simran Shaikh played a match-winning knock of 50 off 35 balls, smashing six fours and two sixes. Sarika Koli scored 24, while captain Sayali contributed 27 runs.
Speaking after the win, Sayali praised the Mumbai Cricket Association’s initiative, saying the league provides a valuable platform and exposure for women cricketers.
Sanika Chalke won the Orange Cap after finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 223 runs, while Swara Jadhav claimed the Purple Cap with 10 wickets. The victory made SOBO Mumbai Falcons the first champions of Mumbai’s women’s T20 league.
