Sooryavanshi’s Record Knock Powers India A to Tri-Series Title

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a stunning batting display as India A defeated Sri Lanka A by 66 runs in the tri-series final at Dambulla. The young opener smashed the fastest List A fifty, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls, and played a breathtaking innings of 94 runs from only 29 deliveries.

Sooryavanshi’s explosive start helped India A post a huge total of 377 for 9. He hit 10 fours and eight sixes, dominating the Sri Lankan bowling attack before being dismissed in the ninth over. His innings became the highlight of the match and broke a 21-year-old record for the fastest List A half-century.

After his dismissal, India A’s innings slowed down, but contributions from Tilak Varma (67), Ruturaj Gaikwad (40), and a late cameo from Anukul Roy (39 off 15 balls) helped them reach a challenging total.

Chasing 378, Sri Lanka A fought hard but were bowled out for 311 in 47.1 overs. Wanuja Sahan top-scored with 62, while Sadeera Samarawickrama added 52. However, India A’s bowlers kept control throughout the chase.

Yash Thakur and Vipraj Nigam claimed three wickets each, while Anukul Roy took two important wickets to seal the victory.

The match will be remembered for Sooryavanshi’s fearless batting, as the young talent once again showcased his ability to perform on big occasions and strengthened his case for future international opportunities.
