New Delhi, July 14: Veteran Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat has set her sights on the upcoming ISSF World Cup in China and the Asian Games after topping the T4 national selection trials in the women’s 25m sports pistol event.
The former Asian Games gold medallist said earning a place in the Indian team remains one of the toughest challenges due to the depth of talent in the domestic circuit. She added that executing her process under pressure during the trials gave her confidence that her preparation is on the right track.
“More than the score itself, I was happy with how I executed my process under pressure. The focus now is to keep improving and carry this consistency forward,” Sarnobat said.
The experienced shooter believes the current Indian squad benefits from a healthy blend of seasoned campaigners and emerging stars. She praised the younger generation, including top shooters such as Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh, for raising the level of competition while highlighting the value of experience in handling pressure during major events.
Sarnobat also stressed that her approach to competition has evolved over the years, with greater emphasis on mental stability and trusting her preparation rather than chasing results.
The Indian shooting squad is currently undergoing a high-performance training camp, focusing on match simulations, technical execution and physical conditioning ahead of the ISSF World Cup. Sarnobat said the immediate objective is to build consistency and confidence before carrying that momentum into the Asian Games, where India will aim for another strong performance.
