Australia’s chase began under pressure after losing early wickets. At one stage, they needed 103 runs from 65 balls. However, Ellyse Perry and Ash Gardner produced a match-winning partnership, adding 100 runs from just 59 deliveries.
Perry scored a brilliant half-century by finding gaps consistently, while Gardner powered the chase with aggressive stroke play, including three sixes. Their partnership completely changed the momentum as Australia reached 172/4 with an over to spare.
The victory confirmed Australia’s unbeaten run in the group stage and sent a strong warning ahead of the semi-finals. India’s defeat also allowed South Africa to progress to the knockout stage.
