JVPG Club to Host HCL-SRFI PSA Challenger Tournament with Top International Players

Mumbai, June 29: The Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana (JVPG) Club will host the HCL-SRFI PSA Challenger Tournament from June 29 to July 3, 2026, featuring some of the world’s top squash players.

The tournament will see participation from 48 players representing 15 countries, with separate men’s and women’s PSA Challenger events offering a prize purse of USD 15,000 each along with valuable PSA ranking points.

India’s top players Velavan Senthilkumar and Tanvi Khanna, both ranked No. 3 nationally, will lead the home challenge. Senthilkumar, ranked 50th in the world, is the second seed in the men’s draw, while Tanvi Khanna, ranked 75th, is the third seed in the women’s category.

Hong Kong’s Alex Lau and South Africa’s Hayley Ward are the top seeds in the men’s and women’s events respectively. Other seeded players include Egypt’s Yasin Shohdy, Diego Gobbi of Brazil, Chi Him Wong of Hong Kong, Abdullah Hafez and Seif Tamer of Egypt. In the women’s draw, Egypt’s Farida Walid, Noa Romero of Spain, Nour Khafagy, Malak Fathy, Japan’s Akari Midorikawa and Risa Sugimoto are among the top seeds.

Indian player Suraj Kumar Chand, seeded seventh, will also look to make an impact.

National head coach Harinderpal Sandhu said tournaments like these help players improve rankings and prepare for major international competitions. The event will be held at JVPG’s air-conditioned glass-backed squash courts with world-class facilities.
