India’s Hansika Lamba claimed the silver medal in the women’s 55kg category at the Polyák Imre, Varga János & Kozma István Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament 2026 in Budapest, while Vishal Kaliraman and Rajat Ruhal added bronze medals in men’s freestyle to take India’s overall tally to five.
Former U23 World Championships silver medallist Hansika fought back brilliantly in the semifinals, overturning a 2-7 deficit to defeat Germany’s Anastasia Blayvas 10-7. In the final, she went down 0-5 to Ukraine’s Nataliia Klivchutska to settle for silver. The medal adds to her impressive 2026 campaign after winning bronze at the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships.
In the men’s freestyle events, Vishal Kaliraman secured bronze in the 65kg category with an 8-2 victory over Kazakhstan’s Ossumzhan Dastanbek in the third-place playoff. Heavyweight wrestler Rajat Ruhal also finished with bronze in the 125kg division after American opponent Mason Mark Parris withdrew due to injury.
India’s medal tally now stands at five, following Aman Sehrawat’s gold medal in the 57kg category and Deepak’s bronze in the 61kg division on the opening day.
With one gold, one silver and three bronze medals so far, India will aim to add more podium finishes as the remaining women’s events get underway. Neha (59kg), Mansi (62kg) and Nisha (68kg) will lead the country’s challenge in the upcoming bouts.
