Jakarta, July 15: India enjoyed a successful campaign in the women’s competition at the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships, finishing with five gold, 10 silver and four bronze medals across the two age groups.

In the U-19 women’s category, India claimed two gold and six silver medals. Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari (51kg) won gold after defeating Uzbekistan’s Nazokat Mardonova 5-0 in the final, while Prachi also secured the top podium finish with a convincing victory over Indonesia’s Dira Artika. India’s remaining finalists settled for silver after spirited performances.

The U-23 women’s team added three gold, four silver and four bronze medals. Nisha (54kg) won gold with a dominant 5-0 victory over Japan’s Koiin Kokufu. India’s other two gold medallists also produced impressive displays to finish on top of the podium.

Among the silver medallists, Nikita Chand (60kg), Kajal (65kg) and Muskan (75kg) finished runners-up after losing closely contested finals against strong Uzbek opponents. The four bronze medals came through semifinal finishes.

India’s impressive haul of 19 medals, including five gold, underlined the country’s growing strength in age-group women’s boxing and reflected the depth of talent across both the U-19 and U-23 categories at the continental championships.
