The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held from July 17 to August 8, 2026, with live coverage on Star Sports. Organised by Sri Lanka Cricket, the tournament continues to grow as one of South Asia’s leading franchise T20 leagues.
This season will feature 94 players, including 62 Sri Lankan and 32 overseas cricketers, providing local talent with the opportunity to compete alongside established international stars. The tournament has also attracted record global interest, with more than 650 overseas player registrations from 21 countries, highlighting its rising reputation in world cricket.
LPL 2026 boasts a strong line-up of international and Sri Lankan players, including Moeen Ali, Jimmy Neesham, Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka. Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar is also set to make his Lanka Premier League debut.
IPG Group Founder and CEO Anil Mohan Sankhdhar said the growing number of overseas registrations reflects the league’s increasing global appeal and its commitment to developing Sri Lankan cricket by providing a high-quality platform for emerging players.
Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela said the sixth season brings together a balanced mix of international stars and promising local talent, promising another exciting edition for cricket fans.
With strong player participation, expanding global interest and extensive broadcast coverage, LPL 2026 is expected to further strengthen its status as one of the region’s premier T20 cricket competitions.
