The Maharashtra Open 2026 was officially inaugurated at the Andheri Sports Complex, marking a significant milestone for the sport’s rapid growth in the state. Organised by the Maharashtra Pickleball Association under the guidance of the Indian Pickleball Association, the three-day championship is witnessing participation from over 1,000 players across 30+ categories.
The event was inaugurated by Ashish Shelar, highlighting the government’s support for emerging sports. The tournament has attracted top talent, including Arjun Singh and Aditya Singh, who recently won three gold medals at the US Open Pickleball Championship, along with India’s second-ranked women’s singles player Mihika Yadav.
Speaking at the launch, MPA President Rahool Kanal emphasized that pickleball in Maharashtra is at a turning point, with the association already crossing 750 members in its debut month. He expressed confidence that the tournament would help establish Maharashtra as a leading hub for the sport in India.
The championship is certified by Pickleball World Rankings (PWR), adding international credibility and competitive value. Winners from the event will earn the opportunity to represent Maharashtra at the National Championship later this year.
With strong participation, rising popularity, and structured development initiatives, the Maharashtra Open 2026 reflects the growing enthusiasm for pickleball and its promising future across the state.
