Nashik is set to host the Maharashtra State Age Group Swimming Championship from July 18 to 20 at the Jijamata International Swimming Pool, Nashik Road, marking the event’s return to the city after a 14-year gap. The championship is being jointly organised by the Maharashtra Aquatic Association (MAA) and the Nashik District Swimming Association.
More than 700 swimmers from around 27 districts are expected to compete in the Sub-Junior and Junior categories. The event will also serve as the selection trial for the upcoming National Championships. Junior swimmers selected here will represent Maharashtra in Bhubaneswar, while Sub-Junior qualifiers will compete in Jaipur.
To enhance the competition experience, the organisers have arranged live streaming on YouTube, electronic touch pads for precise timing, and LED display screens for live results and race updates.
MAA Secretary Raju Palkar said the championship’s return, following recognition by the Swimming Federation of India, is a significant milestone and will provide valuable exposure to swimmers, coaches and parents.
Registration will take place on July 17, while the championship will be inaugurated on July 18 at 10 am. Competition will begin at 8 am each day, with Lifesaving Mumbai serving as the official safety partner. Organisers have also made extensive arrangements to ensure a safe and smooth event.
