Mumbai, June 4: Eagle Thane Strikers captain Shardul Thakur remained optimistic despite his team suffering a narrow one-run loss against Akash Tigers MWS in the Mumbai T20 League 2026.
Chasing 173, Eagle Thane Strikers fought hard until the final ball but fell agonisingly short. The chase was powered by valuable contributions from Sairaj Patil (39 off 23), Siddhant Singh (37 off 19) and skipper Shardul Thakur (25 off 15). Earlier, Onkar Tarmale starred with the ball, picking up three wickets.
Speaking after the match, Thakur admitted the defeat was painful but highlighted the positives from the contest. He praised the fighting spirit shown by the team and credited Siddhant Singh, Sairaj Patil and Onkar Tarmale for their impactful performances.
The India all-rounder stressed that close T20 matches are often decided by small moments and urged his teammates to quickly move on from the setback. He said the team must learn from the defeat, focus on recovery and prepare strongly for the challenges ahead in the tournament.
With the competition moving at a rapid pace, Eagle Thane Strikers have already shifted their focus to their next fixture against ARCS Andheri on June 5, aiming to bounce back and return to winning ways.
