Pro Govinda League Season 4 Inaugurated in Mumbai

Mumbai, August 25: The fourth season of the Pro Govinda League was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at the NSCI Dome, SVP Stadium, Worli, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Transport Minister and league founder Pratap Sarnaik.

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, former Minister of State for Home Dr. Ranjit Patil, Smt. Shaina N.C., Pro Govinda League President Purvesh Sarnaik and other dignitaries attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted the importance of teamwork and unity in Dahi Handi and congratulated Purvesh Sarnaik for transforming the traditional sport into the Pro Govinda League. He also called for efforts to take Dahi Handi to a global platform and assured government support.

Pratap Sarnaik said he was proud to see the festival, which originated at the grassroots level, reach national and international audiences through the league. He thanked Chief Minister Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar for their support.

Purvesh Sarnaik said the league was helping transform Dahi Handi into a modern adventure sport and expressed confidence that Season 4 would take the sport to a new level.

On the opening day, 16 teams showcased their strength, coordination, precision and teamwork, creating an exciting atmosphere for spectators. The Pro Govinda League continues to provide Govindas with a professional platform to showcase their talent while promoting Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage.
