Indian weightlifter Chanambam Rishikanta Singh secured India’s first silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, competing in the men’s 60kg event.
Rishikanta delivered a standout performance by setting a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch portion of the event. He finished the competition with an impressive total lift of 264kg.
Despite his record-breaking effort in the snatch, Malaysia’s Mohamad Aniq Bin Kasdan took the gold medal by achieving a Commonwealth Games record total lift of 273kg, narrowly edging out the Indian lifter.
