England have ushered in a new era in Test cricket by appointing former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming as the men’s Test head coach, replacing Brendon McCullum. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the appointment following an extensive recruitment process, describing Fleming as the unanimous choice to lead the team’s red-ball future.
The coaching change comes after Ben Stokes retired from international cricket, prompting another major leadership shift. Former skipper Joe Root has been named England’s Test captain once again, returning to the role after previously leading the side between 2017 and 2022.
