The United Arab Emirates (UAE) have qualified for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027 after defeating hosts Malaysia by a dramatic one-run margin in the final of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027 Asia Qualifier at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.
The UAE remained unbeaten throughout the eight-team qualifying tournament, which began on July 23, to secure Asia’s lone qualification spot for the 16-team global event. The 2027 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Nepal and Bangladesh.
The UAE enjoyed a dominant campaign, defeating Hong Kong China by 37 runs (DLS), Malaysia by 39 runs and Qatar by 81 runs in the league stage. They then outclassed Bhutan by 73 runs in the semi-final before edging Malaysia in a thrilling title clash.
All-rounder Al Maseera Jahangir starred in the final, scoring a crucial 31 off 34 balls before returning impressive figures of 2/12 in four overs. Her match-winning performance earned her the Player of the Match award.
UAE captain Mehak Thakur praised her team’s composure under pressure and expressed delight at qualifying for the World Cup.
“I’m so pleased by how well our team dealt with the pressure in this final. It’s exciting to qualify for the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, and we hope to perform just as convincingly in 2027,” she said.
The ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup has been held twice so far, with India emerging champions on both occasions.
